Q&A: On Balance (or lack of)

Before I answer this question, I just want to note that I was mentioned again on tonight's Casey Wheeler show. :)

How do you balance a musical career, promoting, doing shows, blogging and your personal life?

Umm.. I don't.

I had a good balance a while back, but now things have gotten way out of hand, I can't deny that.

I have more than one project going on at the moment. With T7N going on the back burner for now (I miss you already, Sir Chris), comes a few other smaller projects in addition to my solo stuff. It all hit me at once. And I'm doing the best I can.

I haven't spent nearly as much time on the road this summer as I did last, and the past few years before. But I do have some shows under my belt (passes on my lanyard?) and inside info on all sorts of cool shit.

My blog has been suffering because of all the action (and tedious work), and my brain has been running in 20 different directions at once and half the time I can't seem to grasp a single idea for a blog post. Hence the very short, very random posts lately.

My personal/social life just kind of happens. Most of those I'm close to are involved in the music and/or geek stuff in some way, and I see them often. We work hard and play hard at the same time. A few have become like family. Everyone else, we have our designated play dates. I'm currently limited to Wednesday night karaoke for play outside of work. There isn't much free time, really. And I don't sleep.

So yeah. I need to find a balance again. It's hard though, when everything is constantly changing. I'm just trying to take it as it comes.
